Needed a day off, so took Caleb to lollipop indoor park. It was a snowy day and cold, so very little people. Wanting to go back maybe next year to try their ice skating. It has been years since I have been and Caleb has not tried it yet.

I treated yesterday for valentines, we had lunch and dessert at the mall and then took Caleb to a candy shop to let him pick out some goodies. Caleb loved it! He good several different candies a little furry critter that chatters and a valentines day balloon.

calebs crafting

Caleb & I did some paper crafting last night. He made some finger puppets, a bear sleeping in a paper bed and a twirly snake. He had fun and helps with his scissors cutting skills, getting him ready before he starts school this year. Micheal's has the cutest crafting kits for the kiddos, will stop for another one today.

Went to Gap to get Caleb some new jeans, pants, hats & undies. They had the cutest clothing that just came out. Funky bright colors that I LOVE. These are just a few things we picked up, the skull shirt is 3D and is why Caleb was wearing the glasses it makes the skull pop out when you put them on. I'm planning on placing a online order here soon for more, way to go Gap!

colorado winter storm

We got a pretty hard winter storm over last few days, I didn't leave the house till yesterday and even then not too many people out. I have lived here in CO for 5 years now and that was the second worst storm I have seen the first being when I first moved here. I am originally from Texas so not sure i will ever get use to the snow and the cold harsh winters. I am ready for Spring and reality is, I wont see it for 3 more months. Took some pictures yesterday

I went to our local garden center and they had all bonsai and succulents 60% off! I originally went in to look at the bonsai material they had in hopes of finding a pretty new pot for my bonsai. Most bonsai were picked through and bought, however tons of these beautiful succulents left! I had to, Caleb kept saying "awl look at the babies" so he helped pick them out. Bought the succulents soil, a gorgeous large coffee cup pot [found at hobby lobby] and its just stunning!

Got it at the containerstore, a bit pricey but seriously I love it! I hung one in Caleb's room above his desk to display his art work, needing another one and then it will be complete. The magnets are strong little things and its visually appealing.

3-D glow in the dark planets

Caleb's all into planets right now, he knows the names and placements of each. So I decided to buy him a glow in the dark type hanging mobile. Cute, however they didn't include the sun [so I made his room light the sun] and most planets wound up on the floor come morning the sticky stuff doesn't work well. Looks like Ill have to rig it with thumb tacks!

It was due for something different with my hair, so I got it layered and permed. My hubby asked "Isn't perms for people in the 80's?" "Well uhm, not not really people still get them done and its called texturing" LOL. So anyways my hair is naturally curly so it just boosted it a little nothing dramatic but enough to make me happy :)

It had stickers, grime and dirty hand prints all over it. Amazing what some dawn dish soap, scrubby pad and some T.L.C can do. Shined it right up and looks brand new, Caleb loves it!

Our toys-r-us rewards came in and so I took Caleb to purchase a toy in store with our free rewards cash and Caleb spotted the game 'fruut ninja' based on the popular IPhone app game. His father has that game and Caleb gets to play it every now and then. So this type of board game he wanted, its actually really awesome! A little pricey, but totally fun to 'chop' the fruit.

we went to the art museum yesterday for something for all of us to do, 3 stories and totally cool. Kids got in free yesterday and weather was holding pretty nice. We all enjoyed it and totally need the down family time all together.

We celebrated the new year last night with tons of board games, junk food, poppers, horns and confetti. It was the first time that my hubby was home for it [he typically works every year] and so it was a first time new years celebration for our family as a whole. Such a great time, Caleb loved watching the ball drop on t.v. and had a million questions on how New Years works. I'm sad to see the past year go and yet happy that we all made it alive and well. I'm in the process of re-decorating Caleb's room into something I think he will enjoy a little more, star wars! My son adores the character from star wars so will decorate it over time, so far we have: Comforter, sheets, 2 pictures for wall, 2 pictures for bookcase, Lego clock and a light saber wall night light. Still the other side of his room I need to figure out to do with. Here's what I have so far!

extreme snow sledding

kept telling my self "google the best snow slopes in the area" so that's what I did and found a AWESOME slope, lots of people and kids were there. Puts a whole new perspective on sledding, that's for sure!! Caleb booked it down this 55-60 foot hill!! It was huge, even I was hooting and hollering all the way down, Caleb wanted to be by himself most times and he did flip out once and hit his head [next time hes wearing a helmet]. I got some serious exercising going up and down this crazy hill, was sweating by the time we left, it was awesome and cant wait till the next snow fall. Caleb was the youngest kiddo going down these slopes, most were 8-15 years old!!

You have GOT to try their fruits, if you havent already!! It is the BEST fruits I have ever had in my life, hands down. We receive a mixed fruit basket from a dear friend every Christmas, we love everything we received. I didn't take a picture of the pears, because they didn't stand a chance and got ate up by my family in less than 24 hours. They are super juicy, sweet and huge. Grown here in the USA, you wont be sorry!!

Step 2 dream kitchen thrift store score

Caleb and I went to a few thrift stores yesterday and I found this step 2 dream play kitchen for 19$, beautiful condition! I replaced all the batteries, wiped it clean and order the missing parts from step2 over the phone. It was missing: 2 doors, phone and basket for bottom. Then the grill piece they replaced for free, with all pieces replaced that were missing it was 20$ shipped for all and a total of 39$ for a soon to be complete set. Pretty good considering this retails for 160$~ . Its pretty cool, the microwave and oven make sounds etc. Theres a light that turns on from the overhead and plenty of food storage room. Caleb loves it!

We went to Nicks Garden Center, originally to see Santa but there was a 1 mile long wait so we went around and looked at everything else. LOVE this place, so magical and special. Tiny details that make this place a winter wonderland. I love it! I left with a jar of handmade picante sauce, peach butter and a wooden porcupine ornament [I took a pic of him]

I baked all day today!!

Yummy peanut butter fudge and sugar cookies, Caleb helped and sampled along the way. I wound uop making a double batch of fudge and double batch of cookies [picture is of a half batch] Took the entire day but worth it!!

I had heard of this tradition on a mommies board and decided to give it a go. Caleb loves the idea and thinks its so funny to see him move around, he named our elf Albie. The consept is to move this little elf around in a new spot every day and he 'watches' your behavior and then reports it to santa while the child sleeps. The child cant touch the elf, if he does the elfl ooses its magic, the elf cant talk because its a 'rule' santa gave the elf. However the elf likes to listen to the child talk. Different but totally fun, Caleb squeals with delight every morning in search of him, its funny to watch his reactions.

Caleb and I went bowling on his actual birthday, I asked what he wanted to do and bowling was his answer. It was so sweet as soon as we walked in the bowling alley he stopped and was listening to the 'bowling' sounds and smiled huge and shook his head YES. He did great!

It snowed. I was hoping it would hold off at least one more month! I am raised down south and then meet my hubby and moved here in CO near the mountains. Winters are long and harsh, something I don't I will ever get use too. My hubby took Caleb out and made a awesome snow fort, will pot some pics of it tomorrow. I must admit one of the perks of cold is the yummy hot coa coa you can drink after playing in it

we got our large pumpkin carved! Used a hobby lobby star wars set I seen last week and this was the easiest one out of the whole book. Very hard to carve small details onto a massively thick pumpkin but its done and pretty sweet looking. We still have the little one to do, Caleb wants master yoda on it. Caleb helped put the marking dots on the pumpkin, however wanted nothing to do with scooping the guts out

So last year we found out that our local Nicks Garden Center gos all out for Halloween and Christmas, it was awesome last year and even better this year! Roasted Chilis, kettle corn, pumkins everywhere, games, hay rides, bouncy houses, props, trains etc. We picked out a baby, momma and papa pumpkin. LOVE it every time and its affordable!

Every now and then Caleb asks me to stamp, I give him some cheaper metals to play with and a smaller hammer. He loves it and I am all for arts of any kind, so he has fun. A little tid bit, jewelry making runs in my family. My grandfather was a metalsmith in jewelry and then my mother beaded and then I went into metalsmith. Wonder if my son will do the same?

Caleb's last day of gymnastics! He was one of the only little boys for the classes, but my personal belief is to expose him to all types of things to further his choices of things later on. Makes for a creative and fun kiddo. He starts his next classes of 'hip hop dancing' in 3 weeks, hes going to love that one.

we won a trip to marlboro ranch for 3 days and 3 nights, all espences paid. No strings attatched, all fun and games. Was a mcuh needed trip for both hubby and I, was out first trip ever away from our son Caleb. We did things like: ziplining, mountain hiking, hummer off roading, horseback riding. The food was excellent, the service just perfect. Everything was set in a western old timers way, there was also live entertainment nightly. These are just a few pictures from our trip

Today we went down the road the the 'delaney farm' its a beautiful raw and older farm that you are allowed to attend on Tuesdays and Saturdays. On these days you donate 1 hour of your time to help weed out the garden and you get fresh free product from their gardens. This was introducted to me from my sons WIC office, decided to give it a try today! So glad we did, it was fun for Caleb and we gained tons of fresh organic produce

HOT day here in CO! Nothing to do today, so googled "free family activities" for my son and I to do and pulled up this one park 20 minutes away and was top rated so we headed there. MODERN and beautiful, I plan on going back when its not 100 degrees. We had a blast, then enjoyed lunch and chocolate shakes at Sonic afterwards. Now we are home and relaxing for the rest of the evening, I love these days with my son. Its great to see the smiles it brings to his face.

I quit smoking

5 days ago and counting.

I have smoked a total of 6 years straight, something I am not at all proud about and is quite shameful. I am always embarassed to speak about it and let others know that I did it. A conviction, that weighed heavy on me on a daily basis. It was not fair to myself, my family or my son whom I love more than life itself. I finally quit and so did my husband. We are both now smoke free. First few days were very hard with withdraw symptoms, those are slowly going away! Cravings are still strong, but I try and alter them with other activites. I am proud of myself for taking this step, its one step closer to a longer healthier life.

a wee walk

Sometimes its just what needs to be done, a quite walk through a trail. Birds chirping, leaves rustling on the trees and fresh nature smells. Not to mention the sun was warm and the shade a welcoming comfort. If only Summer could stay a little longer..

Amusement Park

Headed a little towards the mountains and went to a truly fun amusement park, very little people there. No waiting in lines, we did get rained on but it cleared up quick. My mother, husband and son all went and made a complete day of it. Can I confess the spinning tea cups are NOT my thing, thought I was going to be sick haha

Worm Hunting

Tradition, a very slimy slightly gross one but something we do every year.

Once a year we get a very hard down pour of rain and then if you wait till a warm summer night you go outside and find night crawlers.

Large and small worms that come out after the rain, so my mother and I took Caleb out to catch them. Its so funny he would grab at them and they fly back into the hole, he thought this was so funny and was laughing the entire time. I actually caught one too, cant say I desire it again LOL. We then released them all into my rock garden for the flowers.

Minature Golf

We went to play minature golf, found this place online with great reviews. Small family operated and friendly, great time!

Beautiful summer day here in Colorado!

Packed up a lunch for us three and headed to a local skate park, my son adores skateboarding and was tickled pink that he finally got to see one in real life. We ate under a shaded tree and watched all the people do tricks, then took a walk around. As we were walking around and checking it out a young kid gave Caleb a free deck, Caleb thought he was the best thing there after that and he was!

Recieved the cutest hand made card by my mother this morning, for mother days [its the sole gift I get] and inside was a nice money treat for some flowers!

Planting Flowers on Mothers Day...

A sweet tradtion that Caleb and I started, every year for mothers day we plant the first flowers for the season. I love it and so does Caleb, something about adding that first splash of color to the new year. We finally got a beautiful day without snow/high winds and rain. 80 degrees, sunshinning and simply peaceful. I dug the holes, Caleb placed the flower in and covered it.

BUSY day!! Started off with what Easter Bunny got Caleb [he loved it all], then had plans to go to church and read the time wrong was a hour late, so had to turn back home. Virus in the household

Started last wendsday with Caleb running a fever for 5 days with temps around 104, took him to dr's and they ruled out flu & strep and just have to let it do its thing. Started w/fever for him and now the horrid coughing and gaging, watery eyes and runny nose. I feel for my baby and hope he kicks this soon. This evening coughing fits hit me, I dont have time to be sick!! Wish us well ;)

We got a new table set!! Bamboo and so awesome, we have had our first table for 5 years from a garage sale for 10$ bucks and FINALLY got a new one :) Im beyond thrilled, its those little things.

A few days of beautiful sunshine! Daddy and Caleb built campfires one day and then Caleb and I did sidewalk chalks the next. I cant wait for Spring, being in CO we have been cooped up in the house since November with little outside time. Spring and Summer we live outside! *Cheers* to Spring

It was that time again, Spring clothing shopping to fill in the holes of pieces we are running sky on. Headed to my favorite all time kids clothing store Baby Gap and Gymboree and oh my the sales today were AMAZING! Gap had 50% off, free cupcakes, free face painting and a free 25$ gift card for the first 100 shop[per who spent over 60$ [we were one!]

Gymboree had fill a bag for 30$ + I stacked a 25% off coupon on top and got 50% off total. Great day for shopping!
